Dr. Jürgen Polle, Professor in the Department of Biology at the City University of New York, Brooklyn, received his diploma degree and his doctorate degree in biology from the Georg-August University at Göttingen in Germany. His postdoctoral research was performed from 1997 to 2002 at the University of California at Berkeley. His research interests are in the area of cellular stress biology. Dr. Polle's current fundamental research investigates the regulation of isoprenoid and lipid metabolism in algae. His applied research in the area of renewable energy focuses on an algae-to-biofuels program.
