LEAP:

experimental and applied
phycology

LEAP is studying the physiology and phylogeny of various genera of unicellular green algae such as Chlamydomonas, Chlamydobotrys, Dunaliella, and Haematococcus. In addition, we are interested in growing unicellular green algae in mass culture for secondary carotenoid production and for hydrocarbon production.

Dmitry Brogun works on diversity of microalgae in saline environments and on the alga Dunaliella.

Eliza Strzalkowska investigates regulation of light-harvesting chlorophyll antenna sizes in the unicellular green alga Chlamydomonas reinhardtii.

Duc Tran examines on the phylogenetic relationship of various new isolates of unicellular, halotolerant algal species of the genus Dunaliella.

Ammar Arif works on the genetics of algae within the genus Dunaliella.

Rabiya Chaudhry investigates phylogeny of species within the genus of Dunaliella.

Jasmeen Kaur studies secondary carotenoid biosynthesis in the unicellular green alga Dunaliella.

Salma Manzoor studies secondary carotenoid biosynthesis in the unicellular green alga Dunaliella.

Chan-Nyein Maung investigates photosynthesis mutants of the alga Chlamydomonas reinhardtii.

Navila Nahid studies photosynthesis mutants of the alga Chlamydomonas reinhardtii.

Jessy Paul works on the mechanism of regulation of the chlorophyll antenna size of the photosystems in the unicellular green alga Chlamydomonas reinhardtii.
